Portable measuring instrument for monitoring humidity in compressed air
The quality of compressed air is extremely dependent on the trace humidity content. The testo 635 with a pressure dewpoint probe is specially designed for checking and monitoring humidity in compressed air up to –60 °Ctpd. The portable testo 635 with a pressure dewpoint probe guarantees a high level of security in the monitoring of stationary pressure dewpoint systems.

Versatility thanks to wireless probes
In addition to the connection for the pressure dewpoint probe, the testo 635 also has a connection for TC temperature probes. Wireless measurement up to 20 m is possible for further measurements. A maximum of 3 wireless probes can be displayed by testo 635. The wireless probes are available for the measurement parameters temperature and relative humidity. The optional radio module can be retrofitted at any time, and is simply plugged into the the battery compartment on the rear of the instrument.

Security thanks to documentation
The testo 635 documents the measurement results either on site via the handy Testo report printer or at a PC using the convenient PC software. The software for the presentation of the data on a PC is included as standard in the testo 635-2. Individual measurements as well as measurement series are stored in the testo 635-2 (10,000 measurement values) and presented via the PC software either as tables or graphs. On site, the testo 635 transfers the data wirelessly, via infrared interface, to the Testo report printer. In addition to the measurement results, the date and time are documented on the printout. Using the function “Cyclic printing”, the measurement data can be printed cyclically with the testo 635-1, at a measurement rate of 1 minute to 24 hours. This means that with the testo 635-1, measurement series can be documented on paper even without a data store.

On-site adjustment even without a dewpoint mirror reference

Why adjust on site?
Pressure dewpoint transmitters such as the testo 6743 monitor compressed air dryers continuously. Is the compressed air sufficiently dry? Is damage to the compressed air components occurring? Is the end product protected from humidity?
In order to guarantee safe and reliable monitoring in the long term, pressure dewpoint measurement transmitters are regularly adjusted, i.e compared with a reliable reference, and corrected.
Up to now, this adjustment was usually carried out using a dewpont mirror. This requires time-consuming and expensive measures: the dismantling of the measurement transmitter, acquisition and connection of a dewpoint mirror, comparative measurement and finally the input of the corrections into the measurement transmitter. With some makes it is even necessary to send the measurement transmitter in to the manufacturer.

Patented Testo solution: local two-pressure adjustment
Testo has recognized this problem and developed a low-cost alternative which makes no compromises in accuracy.
The patented procedure makes use of the fact that different humidity values result from different pressure values. The 2-pressure adjustment device 0554 3314 is simply inserted between the process and the testo 6743 (compressed air quick connections). Using an integrated valve, a pressure distributor is created, which reduces the pressure in the testo 6743 from the process pressure P1 at a humidity value %RH 1 to a defined lower pressure level P2. This results in an also defined, lower humidity value %RH 2.
The adjustment is then simply confirmed via the integrated operating menu of the testo 6743. The result is a fast and low-cost adjustment with convincing accuracy!

The advantages?
– no reference instrument required (dewpoint mirrors are very costly!)
– no need for dismantling the measurement transmitter or for sending in to the manufacturer
– one adjustment device is sufficient for unlimited mesurement sites
– the accuracy is guarantedd with as little time consumption as possible

05.09.07 Increasing security in compressed air systems and lowering costs – with pro measurement technology

Irrespective of how it is used: compressed air must be as dry as possible! The pressure dewpoint measurement transmitters from Testo have proven themselves over and over again for this kind of monitoring. With the pressure dewpoint measurement transmitter testo 6740, Testo offers you a user-friendly measurement system. You too can benefit from these advantages: Warns before damage occurs (two freely settable alarms). Pressure dewpoints from –60 to +30 °Ctpd are transferred via an analog 4 to 20 mA signal. Pressure-tight up to 50 bar. Thanks to the analog output, and with clever use of the pre-alarm, it considerably contributes to the economical operation of compressed air dryers (cooling and adsorption dryers). Noticeably lower costs by activating cooling dryers less often and – if the possibility of partial load operation exists – by operating systems according to requirement. Operate adsorption dryers as long as possible in drying operation without simultaneous regeneration. It is worth calculating the economic effect for individual cases: after only a few months, the pressure dewpoint transmitter testo 6740 has paid off – even without taking into account the possibly considerable follow-up damage of a compressed air system affected by condensation.

19.07.07 Customer-specific stationary temperature probes as a comprehensive solution

Temperature measurement plays an important role in almost all branches of the industry, whether with the goal of optimal end product quality or even saving a maximum of energy. However, the project managers often find themselves facing the following problems: - The delivery period for custom-made products it too long. - Making a selection from the array of available technology is difficult and the consultation is often inadequate. - Different suppliers need to be contacted for probes and analyzer units. Testo AG in Lenzkirch, Germany, has solved all three problems: - Custom-made products can be delivered within 8-10 days and express orders within 48 hours. - A brochure and Internet-based selection aid methodically leads you to the best selection. - Testo offers the comprehensive solution, including transmitters and decentralized alarm unit. The user is offered a wide range: - a variety of standard probe types, including stationary fittings, - customer-specific probes of all designs, - head transmitters and top-hat rail transmitters, - built-in displays with/without alarm outputs, - alarm column (visual and acoustic alarm) in wall panel, - logger or handheld instrument suitable for the probe.
